Enter your private compound filled with lush landscaping encompassing almost a half-acre. Privacy meets accessibility with this property – have your toes in the sand in just a 2-minute walk to the beach in the quieter side of northern Playa Pelada. Redesigned by Donald Loria of Prendas Loria this older characterful house was originally an early modern style with one floor of block walls, but recently became an all-new large three bedroom four bath home. Some of the spaces have the flexibility to create more sleeping areas and even bedrooms – and one of the upstairs masters is a studio apartment with a full kitchen, having two entrances: one from the interior catwalk of the house and one from the outside to create a private rental if desired. The master bedroom and bathroom are also upstairs with Juliet balcony overlooking the pool and comes with a nice size walk-in closet.
The inviting entry to the home is via a large rancho, which gives way to a large dining table and a group seating area overlooking the pool and ranchito at the far side. Most of the daily life activities happen here, from hanging out, dining, drying off after a swim in the towel area, or yoga and play.
The house itself is entered from here with wall to wall sliding glass doors which reveal the 32-foot ceiling towering above the kitchen and bar area. This is the heart of the home, a spacious equipped kitchen big enough for two, and gorgeous cream quartz countertops where family and friends can sit and hang at the bar while dinner is cooking.
To the right is a useful large pantry and to the left a nice segue into the TV area, which is a comfy and perfect retreat for those rainy evenings, or warmer nights. A bed couch also sits in the alcove, which can also be used as an extra sleeping area, with support of a fourth family bathroom. Here, sliding glass doors look over the pool and lush vegetation surrounding. A third bedroom is also on the ground floor with a queen bed and a useful side space which can be used as an office, closet, studio or would house more beds if needed.
One might describe the house as Modern Moorish – the tile work mainly glass in the four bathrooms and kitchen, each one unique unto itself and yet presenting a flow throughout. Of course, most of the artwork, linens, and furniture come with – but there is still plenty of opportunity to make this house one\’s own, as the easy design doesn’t dictate or overwhelm.
The gardens are mature and are planted for the climate, watering only necessary in the dry season – with over a hundred species of plants and trees: attracting vibrant birds, butterflies, and chartreuse lizards. The pool is at the center, especially deep, keeping it cool and lagoon-like.
Finally, and of great benefit – the house is situated nicely on just half the lot, the other half having it’s own back entrance – which gives way to the possibility of further support area or building with planning permission.
